Welcome to Year 2!
Homework has been set this week in English and Maths, to be returned by next Friday.
Please could you check all your children's belongings are named. It is really hard for staff to find and return lost items when they aren't named.
The children have been grouped into phonics groups according to their spelling skills. This is a change from year 1 when they were grouped according to their reading skills. The children have weekly spellings to practice. There is space on their sheet to complete this task four times in the week.
How to support your child at home in Year 2
It would be greatly appreciated if you could find the time to regularly read with your child (ten minutes is plenty). They will have their current home reading book in their book bag along with their reading diary. Once they have read with you, please comment and sign in their diary. When they have completed their book, it is your child's responsibility to let us know, so we can change it with them.
In English this week we will be continuing to look at Traditional tales. We will be focusing on the story of Jack and the beanstalk. We will be writing our version of Jack and the Beanstalk using lots of interesting adjectives.
In Maths Mrs Evans' group will be continuing to add and subtract multiples of 10 and using money.
Mrs Crust's group will be learning about position and movement and time.
Please look in the Curriculum section above to read the half termly overview.
