Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 by the Coalition Government. It is allocated to children from low income families who were known to be eligible for free school meals in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings, and children who had been Looked After by the Local Authority continuously for more than six months.

The level of Pupil Premium Grant set for:

2013-14 was £900 per pupil; total of £58,500

2014-15 was £1300 per pupil; total of £88,300

2015-16 was £1320 per pupil total of £72,280

2016-17 was £1320 per pupil total of £78,140

2017-18 was £1320 per pupil total of £70,220

2018-19 is £1320 per pupil total of £58,080

The purpose of this funding is to support initiatives in order that all pupils, including those who are disadvantaged, may reach their full potential. By using this grant we aim to support pupils’ self- esteem, improve attitudes, enhance pupils’ enjoyment of school and develop a love of learning.

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However they are responsible for how they use the additional funding to support pupils from low income families and other target groups. This money is allocated to initiatives which help to ensure pupils reach their full potential both academically and socially.

The Pupil Premium Grant received by the school has been used to improve pupils’ opportunities, attainment and progress by helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
